Beyond Fertility

Contraception

Despite the modern modes of birth control that may come to mind when we think of contraception, birth control practices date back as far as the ancient Egyptians. However, making contraceptive choices continues to be a complex process. Factors such as efficacy, convenience of use, cost, comfort, religion, partner's preferences, and health risk all contribute towards a decision about mode of contraception. At Red Tent Sisters we aim to support your contraceptive decision process through a variety of group and one-on-one programming.

Detailed charting of the menstrual cycle can be a powerful tool for women to connect with their bodies' rhythms. The Justisse method of fertility awareness is a highly accurate method for identifiying a woman's fertile periods. When performed with proper education, support and follow-up, fertility awareness methods can be an effective form of contraception rivalling or exceeding that of barrier and hormonal forms of contraception. Follow-ups are an essential aspect of this contraceptive method.
