Whether you're looking to make a good first impression or simply want to make your morning breath a little more pleasant for your partner, good oral care is an often-overlooked area of personal hygiene, especially when it comes to making holistic, healthy choices that get to the root of the problem.
If you're like most people (including us... until now!) you don't give too much thought to cleaning your teeth. You're probably extra diligent in the days leading up to your dentist appointment and maybe for a few days afterwards, but then your commitment to daily flossing goes out the window. In the grand scheme of things, is it really that important?
The answer is YES! Aside from the cosmetic appeal of having a nice smile and fresh breath, did you know that taking care of your teeth can actually reduce your chances of high blood pressure? We certainly didn't! That's one of the many health benefits of good oral hygiene.
Last year we had the pleasure of meeting Samantha Gladish of Holistic Wellness and we've never looked at teeth the same way since. She's absolutely passionate about oral health - so much so that she has created her own toothpaste, Salty Kisses, after searching far and wide for something all-natural. We'd been on the hunt too, so we were thrilled to be introduced to her formula with only eight ingredients (with names we can actually pronounce)!
Today on the podcast, learn:
- How Samantha cured her cavity in eight months (naturally!)
- The ingredient in most mainstream toothpastes that actually contributes to breeding bacteria
- Why you should ditch the mouthwash (plus a recipe for a super easy DIY option)
- What makes pregnant women more susceptible to developing cavities
- The myth behind fluoride
- How leafy greens prevent bad breath
- When you should (and shouldn't) use an electric toothbrush
The first time we met Samantha we immediately commented on her teeth (they're that impressive!) We assumed she must have had them professionally whitened or used those strips you get at the drugstore. Later we discovered it's all thanks to her holistic dental care regime. We've only recently adopted her suggestions, but it's already made a big difference, so we can attest to the fact that it really does work!
