We’re back this week with part II of our “what’s in our bedside drawer” post where we are revealing what products we sisters actually use, having had the privilege of trying a LOT of the toys on the market. My toy preferences have changed a fair bit this year now that my hubby is fulfilling a two-year contract at Oxford University in the U.K. We've been together a really long time and have enjoyed an active and satisfying sex life, so in the past most of the toys we used were more couple oriented (like small clitoral vibes such as the Nea). Now you’ll find a wider range of toys in my bedside drawer designed to help compensate for some of the stimulation I am missing in my hubby’s absence.
You’ll notice there’s a bit of overlap with Kim’s top picks, perhaps because we have similar taste, perhaps because these are quite simply the best toys, probably a bit of both. ;)
What you’ll find in Amy’s bedside drawer:
The Leaf. The Lelo Nea used to be my go-to “mini vibe” but then I got my hands on the Leaf. I prefer the soft silicone texture and appreciate that the button is on the top of the toy rather than the bottom making it less awkward to change the settings while it’s in use. Because it’s small it works well during intercourse with my husband when he’s around, but I use it solo too.
Njoy. If you know me, you know I like surrounding myself with beautiful things. So, of all the butt toys we carry, Njoy is definitely my fave thanks to the pretty design. From a practical perspective, I like that the stainless steel becomes super slippery with a little lube making it easy to insert. Plus, the bulbous shape helps keep it in place and the handle helps with removal.
Blossom Organics. This my favourite all-around lube – it’s compatible with toys, has a nice consistency, and I don’t mind the taste (‘not minding’ is saying a lot since I find most lubes can be a bit funky). I also like how pretty the bottle looks on my bedside table and the fact it says ‘organic’ right on the label makes me feel very ecosexy :)
Luv It. As a parent, alone time doesn’t happen all that often or for all that long. With simultaneous internal and clitoral stimulation, this toy gets the job done quickly (34 seconds to be exact).
Big Boy. Unlike Kim, I like toys that have a more realistic appearance. With a textured head, veins, and a nice curve, this is my favourite dildo. It’s made from silicone so it’s easy to clean, and the fact it’s handmade by a local family fills it with some good karma.
When it comes to toys and lube, it’s all about personal preference. We’re certainly not suggesting that just because we love a particular toy means that it will be the right choice for you. As always, if you’d like a recommendation or have a question, we’d love to hear from you!
Kim & Amy Sedgwick love to discuss sex, periods, and all the other things we’re not supposed to talk about.
